India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves Hit Record High Of $729.33 Billion

India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves Hit Record High Of $729.33 Billion

India keeps foreign money and gold as savings for the country.

These savings are called foreign exchange reserves.

In the week ending August 21, the reserves grew by $12.42 billion.

They reached a record total of $729.33 billion.

Most of the increase came from foreign currency assets.

India’s gold holdings also became more valuable during the week.

The Reserve Bank of India had introduced measures in June to attract more overseas deposits and foreign currency borrowing.

Some of that incoming money was added to the reserves.

The new total is higher than India’s previous record.
