Modi Praises India’s Rhino Conservation Efforts on World Rhino Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised people working to protect rhinos in India.

He shared his comments on World Rhino Day, held on September 22.

Assam is home to nearly 80 percent of the world’s rhinos, according to Modi.

He especially praised efforts in Kaziranga to stop rhino poaching.

Rhinos are also protected or returning in parts of Bihar and West Bengal.

Rhinos have been successfully reintroduced in Dudhwa in Uttar Pradesh.

A program called Project Rhino will support states with money and technical help.

The day raises awareness because rhinos are illegally hunted for their horns.
