Social media influencer held in digital arrest scam
Some bad people pretended to be police officers and called a very old man.
They told him his bank account was being used for bad things.
They said he and his family would be arrested.
They told him his money was not safe with him.
So he moved all his money to accounts the bad people chose.
The bad people took all his money, about 10.74 crore rupees, which is a huge amount.
Some of the people behind this trick got caught.
One of them was a man who makes fun videos on Instagram.
The police are still trying to get the stolen money back.
So far, they have frozen only a small part of it.
Pune's Cyber Police arrested Rohan Jadhav (26), a social media influencer known for Instagram reels, for his alleged role in a digital arrest scam.
The scam extorted Rs 10,74,65,000 (Rs 10.74 crore) from an 82-year-old Pune resident between January 23 and January 31, 2026.
Posing as CBI officers, the fraudsters claimed the victim's Canara Bank account, opened using his Aadhaar card, was linked to cases against Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal.
The extorted money was diverted to 5,436 bank accounts, including a Yes Bank account that received Rs 75 lakh on January 30, 2026.
Police, who have frozen Rs 1.34 crore so far, also arrested four other accused and said Jadhav was in touch with suspected international handlers in Hong Kong.
