Pune Allocates ₹114.89 Crore for 2027 Cycling Roads
Pune’s city council decided to spend a lot of money—about 114.89 crore rupees—to fix roads for a big cycling race in 2027.
They will use money that was originally meant for other road projects.
The council is worried that some roads got potholes after a race in 2026, so they want an expert check to make sure the repairs are good.
The city’s committee leader said the roads must be world‑class and that the work should be done honestly and carefully.
The plan is to make sure the race has safe, smooth roads for cyclists.
PMC reallocates ₹114.89 crore to upgrade the 84‑km race route for the 2027 Pune Grand Challenge Tour.
Funds will be diverted from existing road projects as no separate budget line exists for the event.
Committee raised concerns over potholes on key stretches after the 2026 event and ordered a technical audit.
Contractors must fix defects under the defect liability period at no extra cost to PMC.
Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale emphasized world‑class infrastructure, quality, transparency and accountability.
