Siddaramaiah Revives Karnataka’s AHINDA Social Justice Agenda

Siddaramaiah is a former chief minister of Karnataka.

He is attending meetings held by Dalit and backward-caste groups.

He is asking these communities to work together for equal treatment and opportunities.

This group is often called AHINDA, a Kannada term for backward classes, minorities and Dalits.

He will speak at a rally celebrating 25 years of a Karnataka backward-caste federation.

Some people think the rally could help bring attention back to Congress’s social justice promises.

It could also support calls to use a state caste survey to guide government action.

Congress leaders say Siddaramaiah has always supported these ideas.

Others think he may be trying to stay important in the party or help his son build a political role.
