Congress Protests Land Allotment for Dharavi Project
The Congress party protested against the Maharashtra government's decision to give land in Kurla, Mumbai to Adani.
The land is meant to help people who live in Dharavi, but aren't eligible for housing there.
The Congress believes the government is giving the land away cheaply and ignoring local demands for a botanical garden.
They also claim the government is using the Dharavi project as a way to give away more land.
The government, however, says the land is for housing and will help many families.
Congress protested the Maharashtra government's decision to allot Mother Dairy's land in Kurla.
The land is for rehabilitating ineligible slum-dwellers from the Dharavi redevelopment project.
Varsha Gaikwad led the demonstration, criticizing the government.
The Congress alleges the land is being handed over to Adani at a nominal price.
The government says the land will be used to rehabilitate 3.5 lakh families.
