Kerala CM Assures Appeal in Actress Assault Case
A few years ago, a famous actress in Kerala, India, was attacked.
The main person who did this, Sunil NS, and five others were found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in jail.
However, the court said that actor Dileep and four others were not guilty.
The actress met with the state's leader, Pinarayi Vijayan, who promised to challenge this decision in a higher court.
The actress said she wasn't surprised by the court's decision and felt the case wasn't handled fairly.
The government is now preparing to appeal this decision.
The actress also wrote on social media that she didn't trust the judgment.
The government is also looking into a video released by one of the accused, Martin.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan assured the survivor of an appeal against the trial court's acquittal of actor Dileep and four others in the 2017 actress assault case.
The survivor expressed her dissatisfaction with the trial court verdict, stating she sensed irregularities in the case handling since 2020.
Six individuals, including the main accused Sunil NS, were convicted and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, with the term reduced considering under-trial detention.
The trial court acquitted actor Dileep and four others, including Charlie Thomas, Sanil Kumar, and Sarath Nair, of all charges.
The government has initiated preparations for an appeal against the trial court's verdict and is also taking action against a video released by the second accused, Martin.
