Barnwal Orders Collectors to Enforce SVAMITVA Registration Work
Ashok Barnwal is a senior government official in Madhya Pradesh.
He said district officers were not getting property registration work done under a government scheme.
He told them to finish the work or take action against Patwaris who were not doing it.
Some collectors said Patwaris and Tehsildars objected to words used in the paperwork.
Barnwal said those concerns existed before the scheme began.
He said the scheme still had to be carried out.
He also complained that most divisional commissioners had not sent him the information he requested.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal criticized district collectors for delays in property registration under the SVAMITVA scheme.
During a video conference on Thursday, he directed collectors to complete the work or take action against Patwaris.
Collectors said Patwaris and Tehsildars objected to wording in documents that called the record a “sale deed” and referred to Patwaris as “sellers.”
Barnwal said those concerns predated the scheme’s implementation and insisted that the government’s scheme must be carried out.
Barnwal also criticized divisional commissioners, saying only one had sent requested information on implementation and action against Patwaris.
