SEBI Launches 'SEBI Check' for Investor Payment Security
SEBI is launching a new tool called 'SEBI Check' to make online payments safer for investors.
This tool will allow investors to confirm if the UPI address they are sending money to belongs to a legitimate broker or other market intermediary.
These intermediaries will use special UPI IDs, and a green checkmark icon will appear when everything is okay.
The goal is to stop fraud and make sure money goes where it should, improving confidence in digital transactions.
SEBI launched 'SEBI Check' to validate UPI addresses of registered intermediaries.
The tool aims to combat increasing cyber frauds and enhance payment security.
Starting October 1, nearly 9,000 intermediaries must use a standardized UPI ID format.
Verified UPI addresses will include a clear suffix identifying the intermediary's category.
A green 'thumbs-up' icon will visually confirm the legitimacy of recipient's UPI handle.
