Andhra Pradesh Officials Explain Proposed Voter Roll Deletions

Andhra Pradesh Officials Explain Proposed Voter Roll Deletions

Election officials in Andhra Pradesh are checking voter lists.

They may remove the names of 44.28 lakh people, but they say every affected voter has been sent a notice.

The voters can take part in hearings and explain why their names should remain.

Hearings have already happened for 26.33 lakh people.

Officials found nearly 16,000 people who were not eligible among those cases.

They are also setting aside eligible voters so they can be included in the final list.

Officials want to finish this work by September 28.

The final voter list is planned for October 3, but that date could change.

People have also submitted applications to register, correct, shift or remove voter names.
