Cornell Students Rally for Jane Doe, Demand Stronger Action

Cornell students and other supporters marched to support a student known publicly as Jane Doe.

In a lawsuit, she says fraternity members sexually assaulted her after she became unable to protect herself.

The men named in the lawsuit deny wrongdoing or dispute taking part.

Cornell closed the fraternity chapter and punished some members, including by expelling some.

Protesters want an outside review and stronger rules for handling sexual assault complaints.

Some also called for the university president to resign.

Local prosecutors did not bring criminal charges after an earlier investigation.

New York’s governor has appointed the state attorney general to lead a reopened investigation.

Doe and her lawyer said they received threats after the lawsuit was filed.
