Haflong to get cancer care satellite centre by February
Haflong, a town in Assam, is getting a new cancer care centre by February.
Dr. Ravi Kannan, the director of a big hospital called CCHRC, visited Haflong to plan this.
Right now, people from Haflong have to travel far to get cancer treatment.
This new centre will help them get treatment closer to home.
It will offer things like early detection, chemotherapy, and follow-up care.
Dr. Kannan thanked everyone helping with this project and reminded people to live healthy lives.
Haflong, Assam, will receive a cancer care satellite centre by February 2024.
Dr. Ravi Kannan, Director of CCHRC, inspected potential sites and engaged with local health officials.
The centre aims to provide decentralized cancer care, including early detection, chemotherapy, and palliative care.
Currently, residents of Dima Hasao travel long distances to Silchar or Guwahati for cancer treatment.
The CCHRC, under Dr. Kannan's leadership, offers free or subsidized treatment and has established similar centres elsewhere.
