Patterson Appeals Mushroom Murder Convictions as Prosecutors Seek No Parole

Erin Patterson was found guilty after three relatives died from poisonous mushrooms in a meal.

The meal was served at her home in Leongatha, Australia, in July 2023.

Ian Wilkinson, who also ate the meal, survived but became very ill.

Patterson says the poisoning was an accident and is asking an appeals court to overturn her convictions.

Her lawyers say some evidence should not have been used and that parts of the trial were unfair.

They also say there was a problem involving the jury while it was kept separate from others.

Prosecutors disagree and are separately asking for a harsher punishment.

They want Patterson to spend the rest of her life in prison without parole.
