Mazagon Dock Plans Commercial Shipbuilding Expansion Amid Order-Book Concerns

Mazagon Dock Plans Commercial Shipbuilding Expansion Amid Order-Book Concerns

Mazagon Dock builds ships for India, especially warships and submarines.

It has grown its sales and profits very quickly in recent years.

Now it wants to build more commercial ships, such as tankers and container ships.

The company has proposed large new shipyards in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

These projects could help it enter a much bigger commercial market.

However, its current order book is smaller than it was several years ago.

That means the company needs to win new contracts to keep the new facilities busy.

It also generated negative operating cash flow in FY26, even though it reported a profit.

Investors will watch whether the expansion produces strong returns without weakening the company’s finances.
