Pentagon Unveils 'Cyber Command 2.0' Overhaul
The Pentagon is making big changes to its Cyber Command, called 'Cyber Command 2.0'.
This plan aims to make the US better at defending against cyber attacks from countries like China, Russia, and Iran.
The new plan focuses on three main things: becoming experts in cyber defence, specialising in different areas, and being able to adapt quickly to new threats.
They will do this by improving how they train and pay their cyber professionals, and by using artificial intelligence to help detect and respond to threats faster.
The goal is to have a stronger, more agile cyber force by 2027.
Cyber Command 2.0 is a significant overhaul of US Cyber Command aimed at countering cyber threats from China, Russia, and Iran.
The plan focuses on three pillars: domain mastery, specialisation, and agility.
Key changes include targeted recruiting, standardised incentive pay, tailored training, redesigned career pathways, specialised mission teams, integrated headquarters support, and optimised unit phasing.
Artificial intelligence is being integrated to speed up threat detection and automate defensive actions.
The overhaul is expected to be fully implemented by 2027 and is designed to strengthen integration across all combatant commands.
