OpenAI Previews Privacy-Preserving System to Monitor AI Misuse

OpenAI is testing a new way to look for unsafe uses of its AI tools.

The system is called Private Safety Processing.

It tries to find patterns in how people use AI without showing the actual conversations to OpenAI employees.

This is meant to protect the privacy of business customers.

OpenAI already has systems that check individual interactions.

The new system is meant to notice risks that may appear across more complicated tasks.

These tasks can take a long time and involve several steps.

The system is being tested by a small group of customers.

OpenAI says it wants to improve safety while continuing to offer Zero Data Retention.
