25 Hate Speech Cases Pending as Police Act on Delhi Youth
A young man from Delhi named Subhan Rangrez went to a very important Sikh place called Darbar Sahib in Amritsar.
He rinsed his mouth in a sacred pool there and made a video of it.
This hurt the feelings of the Sikh community.
The police quickly arrested him, and a court sent him to police custody for three days.
Meanwhile, there are still 25 other cases of hate speech that haven't been solved yet, which makes people question why the police acted so fast in this case but not in others.
Subhan Rangrez from Delhi was arrested for rinsing his mouth in Darbar Sahib's sacred sarovar and filming the act.
The incident occurred on January 13, and he was arrested within three days following a complaint by the SGPC.
He was remanded to police custody for three days by the court on Wednesday.
The swift action by Punjab Police has raised questions about the handling of 25 pending hate speech cases.
The SGPC lawyer highlighted inconsistencies in the police's handling of cases involving hurt religious sentiments.
