Dengue Recovery: Lingering Joint Pain and When to See a Doctor

Dengue fever can cause intense joint and muscle pain, often called 'breakbone fever.'

While most people recover within a few weeks, some experience lingering pain.

This pain is due to inflammation, not bone damage.

Rest, hydration, and paracetamol usually help.

However, if pain lasts more than four to six weeks, or if joints swell or movement becomes difficult, it's important to see an orthopaedic doctor.

Dengue might reveal underlying joint problems that need attention.

For those with joint replacements, temporary discomfort is possible, but worsening symptoms should be checked to rule out infections.
