Manipur Dengue Cases Surpass 3,500 This Year, One Death Reported
Dengue fever is a sickness caused by mosquitoes.
In the Indian state of Manipur, over 3,500 people have gotten sick with dengue this year.
Sadly, one person has passed away from the illness.
The number of cases has gone up recently, especially because of lots of rain and water collecting in places where mosquitoes like to live.
Health officials are working to stop the spread by killing mosquitoes and telling people how to stay safe.
They are telling everyone to keep their homes clean and get rid of any standing water.
If someone gets a fever, body aches, or a rash, they should see a doctor quickly.
This year has seen more cases than last year, though last year had more deaths.
Manipur has recorded 3,594 dengue cases this year, with 129 new cases reported recently.
One dengue-related death has occurred in the state this year, in Bishnupur district.
The majority of cases (2,507) were reported in Imphal West district.
The surge in cases is attributed to prolonged monsoon rains and stagnant water leading to mosquito breeding.
Health authorities are implementing vector control measures and public awareness campaigns to combat the outbreak.
