Supreme Court Judges Bill Introduced Amid Uproar
The government introduced a bill to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court from 33 to 37.
This happened while the opposition was shouting and causing disruptions in Parliament.
They were protesting about two big issues: a leak in the NEET-UG exam and some money problems with the Ram Mandir donations.
Because of all the shouting, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had to take breaks.
The government also plans to introduce another bill that makes it a crime to disrespect the national song Vande Mataram.
The opposition wants to talk about these issues during the Parliament session.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, to increase judges from 33 to 37.
Opposition members disrupted proceedings over NEET-UG paper leak and Ram Mandir donation embezzlement.
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned due to the disruptions.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament will continue till August 13, 2026.
Another bill, the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
