Andhra CM Naidu pushes logistics and horticulture development
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, has asked officials to make plans to grow a lot of fruits and vegetables in three regions: Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and Markapuram.
He wants these places to become big centers for growing these crops.
He also wants to finish some big water projects quickly to help with farming.
One of these projects, called Veligonda, will water farmland and give drinking water to many people.
The Chief Minister wants to bring water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers to more areas.
He also wants to get help from companies and the government to make these plans work.
Additionally, he wants to improve the railway system to transport these crops and other goods more easily.
He has asked for new railway lines to be built and existing ones to be upgraded.
This will help connect different parts of the state and make it easier to move goods to markets in other states.
Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to develop Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and Markapuram into global horticultural hubs.
An action plan was ordered to produce 500 million metric tonnes of horticultural produce in these regions.
Irrigation projects, including Veligonda and Annamayya, were instructed to be completed on a fast-track basis.
DP World and the Purvodaya scheme were identified as potential investors in horticulture development.
Logistics plans covering food processing, port connectivity, and cold chains were directed to be prepared.
Naidu emphasized the need to strengthen railway connectivity to transport 225 million metric tonnes of horticulture produce annually.
Officials were directed to prepare an action plan to expand rail links for agricultural and industrial logistics.
Naidu called for the modernization of key railway stations and the completion of 39 new railway lines over 2,318km.
The state government assured support for land acquisition and fast-tracking of railway projects.
