Gujarat High Court Rejects Plea for Gujarati Arguments
A man in India wanted to argue his case in the Gujarat High Court in his native language, Gujarati.
However, the court said no because he couldn't speak English well enough.
The court had already decided that he wasn't able to argue his case himself because of this language issue.
So, the court dismissed his request, saying there was nothing wrong with their earlier decision.
The Gujarat High Court rejected a litigant's plea to argue his case in Gujarati.
The court deemed the petitioner incompetent to argue in English.
Justice Aniruddha P Mayee upheld the earlier certificate declaring the petitioner's incompetence.
The plea was dismissed as devoid of merit.
The decision was made in August 2025.
