Early Warning Systems Cut Weather Deaths Sixfold, UN Report Finds

Imagine a big storm is coming.

A new report says that countries with good systems to warn people early about bad weather have much fewer people getting hurt or dying when the storm hits.

More than half of all countries now have these warning systems.

This is great because even though bad weather like floods and storms happens often, these warnings help people get to safety.

Africa has gotten much better at having these systems.

The report also said that most of these warning systems are in Asia and the Pacific.

However, small islands and some countries in the Americas and Caribbean still need to improve their warning systems.
