Lioness Suspected of Rabies Dies After Rescue in Gujarat

A young lioness injured five people in separate incidents in Gujarat.

Forest officers rescued her from a village on October 2.

They took her to an animal care centre.

There, she showed unusual behaviour, including biting and making unusual sounds.

She died about 20 hours after being rescued.

Officers suspect she may have had rabies, but tests are needed to confirm it.

Samples from her brain were sent to a university for testing.

The five injured people were given anti-rabies vaccines.
