CPM Leaders Face Legal Action in Malda
In Malda, West Bengal, the police have filed a case against top leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPM.
This is because the party held a big meeting at a busy place called Rathbari, which blocked traffic for about three hours.
The CPM says they had to do this because they were not allowed to use other places like Brindrabani Ground and Malda College Ground.
The party is very upset and plans to fight this in court and also protest on the streets.
They say the police are being unfair.
Even a leader from another party, RSP, was wrongly named in the case and is also going to take legal action.
Meanwhile, CPM state secretary Mohammad Salim met with Humayun Kabir to discuss a possible alliance for the upcoming Assembly Election, which has caused internal disagreements within the CPM.
Police filed a case against CPM leaders and 1,200 workers for holding a meeting at an unauthorized location in Malda.
The meeting caused a three-hour traffic obstruction on the Malda-Raiganj state highway.
CPM claims they were denied permission to use other venues like Brindrabani Ground and Malda College Ground.
The party plans to challenge the case in the Calcutta High Court and organize street protests.
RSP leader Sarbananda Pandey, not present at the meeting, was wrongly named in the case and will take legal action.
