Puri Says India Secured Energy Imports Amid Geopolitical Crises
India’s petroleum minister said the country kept receiving energy despite conflicts and supply problems around the world.
He said India prepared by buying crude oil from more countries.
It also built emergency oil reserves and expanded its refineries.
The number of fuel stations and LPG import terminals increased as well.
Because of these preparations, petrol pumps continued to have fuel.
Cooking-gas cylinders also continued reaching households.
Puri said retail fuel prices remained contained while other places faced price shocks.
He also described major oil and gas projects in West Bengal.
These projects include expansion at the Haldia refinery and oil production at Ashoknagar.
Hardeep Singh Puri said India maintained steady energy imports despite geopolitical crises and supply-chain disruptions.
India diversified crude sourcing from 27 to 41 countries and built 5.33 million tonnes of strategic reserves.
Refining capacity rose from 215 to 267 million tonnes per annum, while fuel outlets exceeded 100,000.
Puri said Indian petrol pumps remained supplied, LPG cylinders reached households, and retail fuel prices stayed contained.
West Bengal has Rs 17,600 crore in oil and gas projects, including Haldia expansion and Ashoknagar production.
