Panasonic Names New CEO as Profits Slightly Increase
Panasonic, a large Japanese technology company, has announced a new CEO, Ken Sain, who will take over in 2026.
The company's profits slightly increased this past quarter, but sales went down.
While Panasonic expects demand to grow for some of its products, it is also concerned about the effects of US tariffs and less demand for electric vehicles.
They are planning to open a new battery factory in Kansas later this year and are working on cost cuts to help with profitability.
Panasonic announced Kenneth William Sain as the new CEO, effective April 2026.
Q1 profit increased by 1.2% to 71.46 billion yen, despite a 10.6% sales decline.
Full-year profit forecast remains unchanged at 310 billion yen, a 15% decrease.
The company is impacted by U.S. tariffs and a potential slowdown in EV demand.
