Escaped Inmate Recaptured in UP's Kannauj
A man named Dumpy, who had escaped from jail earlier this month, was caught by the police.
He was hurt in his leg during a shootout with the police.
The police found a gun and some bullets on him.
Two men had escaped from the jail, and the police are still looking for the other one.
The police had even announced a reward for catching these escaped inmates.
Dumpy alias Shiva, an escaped inmate from Kannauj district jail, was recaptured after a police encounter on January 18.
He sustained a bullet injury in his left leg during the encounter and was taken to the district hospital.
A country-made pistol and two cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Two inmates, Dumpy and Ankit, had escaped from the jail on January 5 by scaling the boundary wall.
The police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for the capture of both escaped inmates.
