LTIMindtree Halts New H-1B Visas
LTIMindtree, a big Indian IT company, will stop asking for new H-1B visas for the US.
This is because the US made the visa fee very high, $100,000.
Instead, LTIMindtree will hire more people who already live in the US.
They already have 4,000 employees in the US with H-1B visas, but they won't ask for many new ones.
Other Indian IT companies are also hiring more local people in the US.
Big US tech companies like Amazon and Google are getting more H-1B visas.
Indian IT firms are changing how they work to rely less on these visas and more on local hiring and new technologies like AI.
LTIMindtree will stop filing new H-1B visa applications due to a $100,000 fee hike for large employers.
The company will focus on local hiring in the US and ramp up its existing workforce of 4,000 H-1B visa holders.
Indian IT firms have reduced their H-1B dependency by 56% since 2015, with over 50% local staff in US operations.
US tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Google dominate H-1B visa approvals in 2025.
LTIMindtree aims for nonlinear growth, doubling revenue without a proportional increase in workforce over the next five years.
