Copper Prices Steady Below Record Highs
Copper prices are not going up or down much right now.
They are just below the highest they've ever been.
People who invest in copper are waiting to see what the U.S. Federal Reserve will say about interest rates.
They think the Fed might cut rates, but not as much as people hoped.
This is because the U.S. economy is still doing okay, and there are worries about inflation.
Also, there might not be enough copper available outside the U.S., which is keeping prices high.
In other news, a big mining company called Teck Resources is merging with another company called Anglo American, and shareholders have approved this.
Other metals like aluminum, zinc, and nickel are also changing in price, but not by much.
Copper prices hovered below record highs on Wednesday, with Shanghai copper down 0.37% and London copper up 0.67%.
Investors awaited the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting, expecting a 'hawkish cut' in December.
Supply strain outside the U.S. and mine disruptions kept copper prices elevated and volatile.
China's consumer inflation reached a 21-month peak in November, but factory-gate deflation persisted.
Shareholders of Teck Resources approved a merger with Anglo American, pending regulatory review.
