Sikkim to Offer Free Cervical Cancer Vaccines to Girls Under 14
The leader of Sikkim, a state in India, announced a new health program.
Starting in April 2026, all young girls in Sikkim who are younger than 14 years old will get a special shot for free.
This shot helps protect them from a serious illness called cervical cancer.
The government chose this age because the shot works best when given to children.
They are also going to give free testing kits to women who are between 30 and 65 years old.
These kits will help doctors find the illness early so they can treat it.
The leader said it's important to use the ways we have to keep people healthy and save lives.
Sikkim will offer free cervical cancer vaccinations to girls under 14 years old starting April 2026.
Women aged 30 to 65 will receive free cervical cancer test kits from the same month.
The initiative was announced by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
Vaccination is recommended for the under-14 age group as it is most effective.
The program aims to prevent the disease and enable early detection and treatment.
