MZP Urges Government Action Against Proxy Teachers by June 13
The Mizo student organization MZP is asking the Mizoram government to take action against teachers who are using substitutes to do their jobs.
This means teachers are paying other people to teach in their place.
The MZP found that this is happening in several government schools, even though the government said it would stop this practice.
The MZP wants the government to make the teachers do their jobs properly or be fired and replaced.
The government was elected in December 2023, and promised to stop the use of substitutes.
The MZP had already gathered a list of teachers using substitutes.
Department reports showed that 3,365 government employees use proxies.
MZP demands Mizoram government action against proxy teachers by June 13.
The MZP identified 22 teachers across 14 government schools using substitutes.
The government, led by ZPM, pledged to eliminate substitute employment in Dec 2023.
MZP had instructed its branches to compile a list of proxy teachers in January 2024.
Departmental reports revealed 3,365 government employees using proxies.
