Detroit Tigers Acquire Top Prospect Zyhir Hope in Skubal Trade
The Detroit Tigers traded their star pitcher, Tarik Skubal, to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In return, they got three young players, the most exciting of them being 21‑year‑old outfielder Zyhir Hope.
Hope was first picked by the Chicago Cubs and then moved to the Dodgers.
He’s been playing well in Double‑A Tulsa, hitting many home runs and stealing bases.
The Tigers hope Hope will grow into a key player for them in the future, maybe starting in 2027.
Detroit Tigers traded ace pitcher Tarik Skubal to Los Angeles Dodgers for three prospects, including 21‑year‑old outfielder Zyhir Hope.
Hope, originally drafted by Chicago Cubs in 2023, was acquired by Dodgers in January 2024 trade for Michael Busch.
In Double‑A Tulsa, Hope posted a .293/.369/.530 line with 23 homers, 87 RBI, 18 stolen bases in 21 attempts.
MLB Pipeline ranks Hope as the No. 25 overall prospect, and Dodgers’ No. 5 before the trade.
Most projections place Hope’s MLB debut in 2027, though an earlier call‑up is possible.
