Geeta Dhami Highlights Women's Role in Uttarakhand's Culture
In a town called Tanakpur, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, people held a special celebration called Sawan Utsav 2026.
It was a cultural programme made especially for women, full of songs, dances, games and talks.
A leader named Geeta Dhami came to the event and spoke to the women.
She told them that women are very important for farming, culture and earning money in Uttarakhand.
She also said that girls should get a good education so they can grow up strong and successful.
During the celebration, ten hard-working women received awards called the Nanda Shikhar Samman.
The winners included teachers, health workers, and the first woman in the area to drive a tuk-tuk.
Geeta Dhami also planted a sandalwood tree sapling and gave saplings to the women, asking everyone to care for nature.
In the end, she encouraged all the women to learn new skills, start businesses and become independent.
Geeta Dhami, founder-trustee of the Seva Sankalp Foundation, spoke at a women-focused cultural programme in Tanakpur, Uttarakhand.
