Delhi High Court questions Jantar Mantar as protest site

Cities are places where lots of people live and work.

Sometimes, people want to gather together to tell the government how they feel about something.

In Delhi, there is a special place called Jantar Mantar where people usually go to protest.

A group called the All India Dalit Christian Rights Protection Committee wanted to hold a peaceful protest there.

They asked the police for permission, but the police did not answer for a long time.

A judge named Justice Amit Mahajan looked at this problem.

He asked why protests should happen right in the middle of the city.

He said the whole city should not be 'put to ransom' because of demonstrations.

The judge told the police to give an answer by Saturday.

In the end, the judge did not say yes or no to the protest — he just said the police must decide.
