Assam floods kill 89; Nadda promises government support

Assam is a state in India where floodwaters have covered many villages.

The water has sadly taken the lives of 89 people, including a boy who drowned.

More than one lakh people have been affected, and many have lost their homes.

A leader named JP Nadda visited the damaged area with the state's chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He promised that the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will help the people.

The government will provide money, compensation, and other support to those who suffered losses.

Rescue workers have set up 55 camps where nearly 18,000 people can stay safe.

Many villages, farms, and animals have been hurt by the water.

One river, called Dhansiri, is still very dangerous, so people are being told to stay away from it.

Everyone knows it will take time before things return to normal.
