Vijayan accuses UDF of aligning with Jamaat-e-Islami
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accused the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) of trying to form a political alliance with the Jamaat-e-Islami, an Islamist group.
Vijayan said that the UDF, which includes the Indian Union Muslim League, is willing to give the group a 'clean certificate' despite its controversial past.
He warned that this alliance could lead to the Muslim League losing control to the Jamaat-e-Islami.
The UDF, however, denies any formal arrangement with the group.
Vijayan also criticized both the RSS and Jamaat-e-Islami for spreading false information.
He emphasized the importance of engaging with the central government for the benefit of Kerala and reiterated the CPI(M)'s opposition to communalism and the activities of the Sangh Parivar in the state.
