Karnataka Forest Officials Accused in Poaching Deaths Get Bail

A court in Karnataka gave three forest officials anticipatory bail.

They are accused of killing three people suspected of poaching.

The deaths happened in a forest near Hanur.

The officials do not have to be taken into custody for questioning right now.

A separate magisterial inquiry into the incident is still pending.

The judge said the case is based on circumstantial evidence.

He also said it was dark and difficult to see in the forest at about 4 a.m.

The court said these conditions made it difficult to determine how the shooting happened.
