Devotion Marks ‘Vimana Shikhara Gramotsavam’ in Vijayawada
Imagine a special festival happening at a temple for a new spire, called a Vimana Shikhara.
On Friday, a part of this festival called Vimana Shikhara Gramotsavam took place.
Lots of people came to watch a decorated float carry the spire through the village.
Before that, wise people did special prayers.
Then, women carried water in pots to the temple.
On Saturday, there will be another big ceremony to officially place the spire and a flag pole.
The temple expects many people to come and will give food to thousands.
The Vimana Shikhara Gramotsavam was conducted on Friday at Sri Abhayanjaneya Swamy Devasthanam in Nunna, near Vijayawada.
A procession of the Vimana Shikhara took place through the village on a decorated vehicle, with many devotees participating.
Vedic scholars performed sacred rituals for the Vimana Shikhara and Dhwajastambham earlier in the day.
Women devotees carried water in brass pots from Kotakatta Centre to the temple before Jaladhivasa for the Dhwajastambham.
The Vimana Shikhara Dhwajastambha Pratishta Mahotsavam is scheduled for Saturday at 11:29 am, with food to be served to approximately 7,000-8,000 devotees.
