Khadakwasla EVM Inspection Stalled Amidst VVPAT Dispute
After losing the election, a candidate in Pune asked officials to re-check the voting machines.
He wanted them to count paper receipts to make sure the electronic results were correct, but the officials said they weren't supposed to do that.
Because the candidate didn't agree to clear the machines for a test, the checking process was stopped.
The candidate is not satisfied with the results and will take it to court.
Election officials inspected and verified EVMs in Khadakwasla.
NCP(SP) candidate Sachin Dodke demanded VVPAT verification.
Officials refused to count VVPATs, stating it was not standard procedure.
Dodke refused to allow the EVM memory to be erased for a mock poll.
Dodke plans to appeal the decision in court.
