Macron Visits China for Trade and Ukraine Talks
French President Emmanuel Macron is visiting China this week.
He wants to talk about trade and make sure Europe and China can work together without too many problems.
Europe is worried about cheap Chinese products hurting their industries and China's strong position in making electric cars and special materials.
Macron will meet with China's leader, Xi Jinping, to discuss these issues.
He also wants to make sure China helps convince Russia to stop fighting in Ukraine.
Last time he visited, he said some things that upset the United States, so he's being more careful this time.
Other European leaders will also visit China soon to talk about these same issues.
French President Emmanuel Macron is on a three-day state visit to China to address trade and security concerns, including discussions on Ukraine ceasefire.
Macron will meet with President Xi Jinping in Beijing and Chengdu to discuss rebalancing trade dynamics and economic cooperation.
Europe is worried about cheap Chinese exports, particularly in the steel and electric vehicle sectors, and China's dominance in rare earths processing.
The EU is considering a new economic security doctrine to address trade issues with China more aggressively.
Macron aims to avoid repeating past missteps, particularly regarding remarks on Taiwan that caused a U.S. backlash, and seeks China's influence on Russia for a Ukraine ceasefire.
