HHRC Seeks Answers Over 20-Year Water Shortage in Faridabad

HHRC Seeks Answers Over 20-Year Water Shortage in Faridabad

Nearly 500 families in a Faridabad housing society say they have not received public drinking water for over 20 years.

They first used borewells and private water tankers.

The borewells later dried up, so families had to keep buying water.

The Haryana Human Rights Commission says safe water is necessary for health, cleanliness and human dignity.

It has ordered the government to provide free water tankers without interruption for now.

The commission wants officials to explain whether a public water network was ever provided.

Officials must also describe the condition of the borewells and other water sources.

The case will be heard again on November 12.
