MLC seeks transfer of criminal cases to special courts
A man named Chinthapandu Naveen Kumar, also known as Teenmaar Mallanna, is an MLC (Member of Legislative Council) in India.
He has many criminal cases against him because of his work as a journalist.
He wanted all these cases to be moved to special courts that handle cases for people like him who are elected officials.
The government said no, so he went to the High Court to ask for help.
He thinks it's unfair that he has to go to different courts in different places for these cases.
He hopes the court will let him have all his cases in one place.
Chinthapandu Naveen Kumar (Teenmaar Mallanna), an MLC and journalist, filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking transfer of criminal cases to special courts.
He requested the transfer of all criminal cases registered against him to special courts constituted for legislators, citing hardship in attending multiple courts.
The government rejected his request, stating that the special courts are exclusively for MPs and MLAs.
Mallanna argued that the cases against him are a result of his journalistic activities and critical analysis.
The petition is awaiting hearing before a single judge bench.
