Delhi may extend EV deadline for fleets to 2035
The Delhi government is thinking about pushing back the deadline for all cabs and delivery vehicles to switch to electric ones.
Right now, the deadline is 2030, but they might change it to 2035.
This is because companies like Ola, Uber, Amazon, and others said it's too soon.
They're worried about the high cost of electric vehicles and the need for more charging stations.
The government is talking to these companies and workers to make a new plan.
They also want to make rules about how much cabs can charge, especially when there's a surge in demand.
There are over 550,000 vehicles in Delhi that this rule affects, and only 4,000 charging points, so they need more.
The new rules will come out in early 2026.
Delhi government considering extending EV transition deadline for commercial fleets from 2030 to 2035.
Extension discussed after representations from major aggregators and industry groups.
Revised scheme expected to be made public in early 2026.
Concerns raised about financial pressure on drivers and small fleet operators to purchase EVs by 2030.
Government also plans to include fare regulation in the revised scheme, with focus on surge pricing.
