Bay of Bengal Moisture Causes Rain in Assam, Dips Temperatures
A lot of rain has fallen in Assam for the past few days.
This is because clouds carrying water from the Bay of Bengal have moved inland.
The rain has made the weather much cooler, with temperatures dropping about 5 degrees below what's usual.
Some places got a lot of rain, like Dhemaji and Gossaigaon.
Even in the city of Guwahati, the temperature was much cooler than normal.
Weather forecasters say the rain might stop soon, and it will get warmer again.
For the whole month of November, it's expected to be warmer than usual in this part of the country, even though there has been slightly less rain than normal since October 1st.
Incessant rains in Assam over the last couple of days have caused temperatures to drop 4-5 degrees Celsius below normal.
Heavy showers were recorded in Dhemaji (80mm) and Gossaigaon (60mm) in the past 24 hours, with moderate rain in most other parts of Assam.
The rainfall is attributed to moisture from the Bay of Bengal, due to a low-pressure system over Jharkhand and Bihar.
Guwahati recorded a daytime temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 4.7 degrees below normal.
Weather forecasts predict a decrease in rainfall from Monday, leading to rising daytime temperatures, with above-normal temperatures expected for November in the Northeast.
