CCI Urges Students to Help Protect Consumer Rights
A consumer group held a meeting to teach people about consumer rights.
Dr. Pallepadu Damodar said students should help protect consumers.
He said students can learn by joining volunteer programmes after college.
They may see problems such as cheating businesses, incorrect weights and unsafe food.
They can also learn how to help people who receive poor services.
The work may teach them about poverty and other social problems.
Damodar said this experience could help students in their future careers.
A Child Welfare Committee member praised the programme and asked for a larger event each year.
CCI National Secretary Dr. Pallepadu Damodar urged students to participate in consumer-rights protection efforts.
He said voluntary service could provide students with practical knowledge of consumer-related issues.
Consumer association work can expose students to fraud, faulty measurements, adulterated food and poor services.
Damodar said social service experience could help students understand poverty, inequality, farmers’ distress and superstition.
The District Consumer Advisory Council held the conference in Ramnagar on Saturday for VCA and PCA Day.
