Sensex, Nifty 50 Rise Third Straight Session Amid Earnings Optimism
On July 21, the two biggest Indian stock market indexes, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, went up for the third day in a row.
The Sensex finished at 78,094.64 and the Nifty 50 at 24,383.60.
The total value of all the companies on the exchange grew to about ₹486 lakh crore, giving investors a big boost.
Even though the market has been down for the year, it has still gained more than 2% in July.
The rise was helped by companies earning more money than expected, but worries about the US‑Iran conflict, oil prices, and higher US interest rates kept the gains modest.
Sensex closed up 0.21% at 78,094.64, Nifty 50 up 0.27% at 24,383.60 on July 21.
Market cap rose to ₹486 lakh crore, adding ₹3 lakh crore in a single session.
Both indices gained over 2% in July, marking a second consecutive month of gains.
Year‑to‑date, Nifty down 7% and Sensex down over 8%.
Gains driven by better‑than‑expected Q1 earnings, offset by US‑Iran tensions, oil price volatility, and rising US yields.
