Dombari Buru Massacre: Honoring Adivasi Martyrs
A long time ago, in a place called Dombari Buru in Jharkhand, India, many Adivasi tribals were killed by British soldiers.
They were led by a brave man named Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who was fighting for their rights and freedom.
The British were taking their land and not treating them fairly.
On January 9, 1900, over 400 unarmed tribals were gathered peacefully when the British suddenly started shooting.
This event is very sad and important, and some people want to make it a national memorial to remember and honor those who died.
It's like the Jallianwala Bagh massacre but happened much earlier.
The Indian government has been recognizing the contributions of tribal freedom fighters, and making Dombari Buru a memorial would be a great way to remember their sacrifices.
The Dombari Buru massacre occurred on 9 January 1900, where British forces killed over 400 unarmed Adivasi tribals.
The event was a part of the Ulgulan movement led by Bhagwan Birsa Munda against British colonial rule.
Birsa Munda was arrested and died in jail under suspicious circumstances in 1900.
The massacre is often compared to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre due to its brutality and targeting of defenseless people.
There are calls to declare Dombari Buru a national memorial to honor the sacrifices of Adivasi freedom fighters.
