Vijay’s MLA Benefits Plan Sparks Accountability Debate in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay announced extra support for all 234 lawmakers.

The plan includes a government vehicle for every MLA.

Each MLA would also get Rs.

75,000 every month for fuel, a driver and other costs.

They would receive another Rs.

25,000 for hiring a personal secretary.

Vijay said some new lawmakers do not have much money of their own.

Supporters believe this help will let lawmakers do their jobs better.

Critics think politicians are receiving benefits while ordinary people still face problems.

The debate is part of wider questions about leadership, accountability and whether the government is following old political practices.
