Delhi Fire Department Refuses Safety Certificate for Talkatora Stadium Annexe
Imagine a building needs a special sticker to prove it's safe from fires.
The fire department checked a building at Talkatora stadium and found many problems.
Their alarms didn't work, fire hoses were broken or missing, and the stairs were blocked.
Because of these safety issues, the fire department said 'no' to giving the building a new safety sticker.
They warned that if people use the building without these safety features, it could be dangerous for them.
The fire department also refused a safety certificate for a hospital for similar reasons, as old problems hadn't been fixed.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) has refused to renew the fire safety certificate for the Talkatora stadium annexe building.
The decision was made due to 12 identified "shortcomings" in the building's fire safety arrangements.
Issues included non-functional alarm systems, fire control room panels, public address systems, smoke detectors, a removed terrace pump, damaged hydrants, and missing hoses.
Staircases were found to be locked and blocked by furniture and other materials.
The DFS also rejected a fire safety certificate application for Ambedkar hospital due to unaddressed safety measure deficiencies.
